Tree trunks that are very close to each other remind me of a tribe. I photographed them using the same technique as in the tree crown series with numerous single frames. After assembling the images together I rotate the whole photograph about 90 degrees to give it a new meaning. A single trunk can be perceived, that exists out of a lot of single trunks.

To me it is like a visual metaphor: This new trunk points to the roots of the tribe, where all the single trunks descend from. This tribe stands for the interrelation and cohesion of every single individual. It is also about the energy of masses: It needs an effort to stand out of a group and do something different.
